Took a class on soldering. I spent more time trying to shape these bangle bracelets than I did soldering!
Once again I’m playing catch up on my events. I was a vendor at the Maker Faire Kansas City-June 28 & 29. For those of you not familiar with this event, it’s organized by the the people who put out the “Make” magazine. The event is full of people who are passionate about science/engineering/hacking/making. Amongst all the participants on all levels there are robot agility competitions (high school teams), make-up special effect creators, sci-fi cos play, electric cars, and 3D printers are EVERYWHERE! As usual, a fun event. I was located in the “Made in Kansas City” room. The makers/inventors/artists were amazing. Great crowds. I honored with (2) blue ribbons as a “Maker of Merit”. Thank you Maker Faire!!!
Here’s a new project—- Art-O-Mat
http://www.artomat.org/
The project works like this: artists submit small art pieces which are on blocks (like a painting) or boxed (for 3D works) and
loaded into refurbished cigarette vending machine for purchase. These vending machines are located throughout the country.
I am submitting a bike chain pendant for consideration. We’ll see what happens.
Here’s some bike chain I was about to send to the scrap yard because it was SO filthy. I decided I’d clean up a few links just to see how they looked. I think they look great. So here’s the progress from rust to re-use. This is going to the Re-cycled Art fair in Albuquerque this weekend.
Found a new bike chain manufacturer. This one is in Taiwan. I am digging the “planet” stamped on the link. I made some sputnik inspired earrings.
